Welcome to FAB

FAB’s membership of elder women was formed in 2003 for networking and building community through our diverse interest groups and Annual Tea.

Hot Off the Press:  Winter 2026 FAB Chronicles!
Winter 2026 Chronicles Full.png

Our Winter 2026 edition of the FAB Chronicles has been emailed to all members and is available on the Website. Immigration is the focus for this issue: its legislative history in the U.S.; an ode to an undocumented immigrant's plight; and the profile of a FAB member whose own experience is a testament to the valuable contributions by immigrants. We also include tributes to four remarkable women we recently lost, as well as a look at FAB activities.

Let us know if there is a topic you would like for us to consider.

New Members Luncheon: Successful and Fun Event

About a dozen new FAB members were warmly welcomed at the New Members Luncheon on February 24 at the lovely El Cerrito home of Debra Mipos. New members mingled with more seasoned members; enjoyed a delicious spread courtesy of FAB's Hospitality Group; learned about the history of FAB and opportunities to become involved with interest groups and volunteer activities such as the FAB Chronicles, FAB Website, and the Hospitality Group; and shared a bit about their own backgrounds and current interests. A wonderful afternoon gathering!

Information about our new members will be included in the next FAB Chronicles. Stay tuned!

Interest Groups

From its earliest days, FAB members have formed special interest groups to meet other FAB members, network, engage in a wide range of enriching and fun activities, and make new friends in the process. We write memoirs; discuss books, movies, and politics; play bridge, Mah Jongg, and Rummikub; gather for lunch at local eateries; explore San Francisco; knit; and more.

Become a member of FAB and then join one of our established interest groups, or start a new group!

Once you join you can find more information on the Interest Groups page in the Member Portal. And because FAB is 100% volunteer-powered, you can also check out our Volunteer Opportunities in the portal.

The Annual FAB Tea

Our marquee member event is the Annual FAB Tea. The Tea is a lighthearted, fun gathering with bountiful buffet, opportunities to see old friends and make new ones, lots of conversation and laughter, and, yes, tea. The event began with a group of 28 women when FAB was founded in 2003, then doubled in number the following year, and has continued to grow ever since. FAB members can view the beautiful Tea invitations from prior years at the Annual FAB Tea page on the FAB Member Portal.
